Stability and Less Burden for Oncology Patients

By November 26, 2019 No Comments

Volunteering Gold Coast has solidified their Community Transport Service in partnership with the Gold Coast Hospital Foundation, to be the only designated service on the Gold Coast to provide an Oncology Transport Service for cancer patients. With the expectation of providing over 7000 trips in 2020.

The Gold Coast Hospital Foundation is funding this much needed service that will provide stability for patients undergoing treatment. Being able to attend scheduled appointments, without the burden or stress of how to get there, will benefit the patients and their families greatly.

“There has always been a strong demand for an Oncology Transport Service on the Gold Coast. In 2018, there were over 14,600 people being treated for cancer, which was higher than the previous year. If we can provide a reliable service that will assist cancer patients in any way, then we will do so.” Said Mr Ben Cox – CEO, Gold Coast Hospital Foundation.

“Volunteering Gold Coast has been providing community transport on the Gold Coast for over 20 years. We are thrilled to be once again providing the Oncology Transport Service. In collaboration with the Gold Coast Hospital Foundation, we look forward to providing this much needed service to the people who need it.”

Volunteering Gold Coast Transport Services will provide a reliable, professional transport service for oncology patients at the Gold Coast University Hospital, Robina Hospital, Gold Coast Private Hospital and ICON. There will be three vehicles running from 6am to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday. Bookings will be essential.
