VSA Enhances Community Connection and Intergenerational Relationships For Seniors Week

By August 20, 2019 No Comments

Volunteering Services Australia is excited to be bringing back their popular Musical Variety Show as a part of celebrations for Queensland Seniors Week 2019. The show will be held on Friday 23 August from 9am at the Nerang Bicentennial Hall.

Queensland Seniors Week 2019 will be celebrated from 17-25 August as a means to improve community attitudes towards older people and enhance community connection and intergenerational relationships.

Over 200 seniors and carers are expected to attend the Musical Variety Show, which will include performers from VSA’s Entertainment Group and will be followed by a morning tea for all guests.

“This is the fourth time VSA will be hosting the Musical Variety Show. We have an assortment of very talented performers volunteering their time for the show including some crowd favourites from previous years,” said Simon Nugus, CEO of Volunteering Services Australia.

“For many seniors on the Gold Coast, the Musical Variety Show is their one outing of its kind where they can be social, meet people, dance and sing along to the hits of yesterday. It allows them to connect with others, reminisce and have a wonderful morning. Which is truly delightful to see,” Said Mr Nugus.

Tickets for the Musical Variety Show are $5 with drivers and carers complimentary. If you would like to attend the Musical Variety Show you can register by contacting the VSA Entertainment team at entertainment@vsaustralia.org.au.
