A couple who believes in giving back to the community. Jenny and John Carroll have been volunteering for 3 years at Ronald McDonald House on the Gold Coast, providing help and support for parents of sick children.
“My husband and I love giving back to the community in any way possible and we enjoy coming in and working together”, said Jenny when asked why they started volunteering.
They spend most of their time at the Ronald McDonald House doing housework for the families and lending a sympathetic ear to distressed parents. John also helps out at Christmas time dressing up as Santa Claus and Jenny loves making quilts for the children.
Jenny and John love providing their support to the children and their families at the Ronald McDonald House and have found volunteering to be an overall humbling and worthwhile experience.
“It is a great feeling to be doing a little to help other people, and it’s lovely to share these feelings with my husband,” Jenny said.
“Hearing about the struggles the children and their families go through puts your own worries into perspective. The volunteers make it possible for the families to have some normal downtime in a homely situation.”
