Volunteering Services Australia (VSA) in partnership with Ipswich City Council hosted the International Volunteers’ Day breakfast on 5 December 2018, to recognise and reward the invaluable contribution volunteers make in Ipswich.
The event celebrated the achievements of 250 volunteers with a delicious hot breakfast, performance by Alchemy Street Choir, Guest Speaker-Jo Jones from Volunteering Services Australia as well as trivia and lucky door prizes. Volunteers received a certificate of appreciation and Christmas pudding to take home.
‘It is inspiring to witness the difference that volunteers make individually and collectively in our community and this event provides us with the opportunity to express our appreciation and thanks for their service,’ said Vicki Meyer, Community Engagement Officer for Volunteering Services Australia.
Mandated by the UN General Assembly, International Volunteers Day (IVD) is held annually on the 5th of December with this year’s theme being ‘volunteers’ build resilient communities.’
