Volunteering Services Australia held their annual International Volunteer Day celebrations with a celebratory morning tea at the Gold Coast Council Chambers on Wednesday, 5 December 2018.
There were approximately 35 guests in attendance, including VSA member organisations such as Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, Hopewell Hospice, Gold Coast Youth Orchestra, Story Dogs and the Australian Anti-Ice Campaign.
Jackie Justin, CFO of Volunteering Services Australia, spoke on behalf of CEO, Simon Nugus, who addressed the importance of volunteering and the long term benefits it brings to individuals and businesses in the community.
“Every year, VSA are always delighted to hold celebrations for International Volunteer Day and recognise and reward Volunteers for their efforts to building a stronger more connected community,” said Jackie.
Three volunteers were recipients of the Classic Volunteers award, which includes a seven-day holiday of their choice thanks to VSA sponsor, Classic Holiday. Nicole Smith, VSA General Manager Marketing and Mark Stephenson, Classic Holiday Chief Commercial Officer, presented these awards at the morning tea.
