Recognising Resilient Volunteers on International Volunteer Day

By December 3, 2018 No Comments

International Volunteer Day (IVD) 5 December 2018, is a celebration of the contribution volunteers make in the community through the donation of their time, skills and enthusiasm. Volunteering Services Australia will once again be holding their annual celebrations to commemorate Gold Coast Volunteers.

“Volunteers are the backbone of building a strong and connected community. It gives us great pleasure to be holding our annual IVD celebrations and acknowledge the hard work contributed by volunteers throughout the year,” said Simon Nugus, CEO of Volunteering Services Australia.

To celebrate, Volunteering Services Australia have invited their member organisations and volunteers to a celebratory morning tea to be held at the Gold Coast Council Chambers on Wednesday, 5 December, 2018.

During the event, three lucky volunteers will be rewarded with a free seven-day holiday of their choice thanks to VSA sponsor Classic Holidays.

“The volunteers that will be rewarded have contributed many hours into giving back to the community and are highly valued members of the organisations they volunteer for,” said Simon.

The morning tea will replace the annual Gala Dinner and Awards ceremony which VSA usually holds during IVD. This will instead be held during National Volunteer Week in May, 2019.

Volunteering Services Australia is the largest Volunteer resource centre in Australia and is one of the top three community transport operators in the country. With outreach programs in the Gold Coast, West Moreton (Ipswich/Jimboomba) and Launceston, Tasmania.
