Volunteering Services Australia held their annual show stopping IVD Gala Dinner Awards, Tuesday 5 December 2017 at the Sharks Event Centre.
With a record number of over 330 guests the who’s who of the Gold Coast attended to celebrate and pay recognition to Gold Coast volunteers, not for profit organisations and community projects.
On behalf of His Worship the Mayor, City of Gold Coast, Councillor Tom Tate, Councillor Pauline Young addressed the guests thanking and urging the Gold Coast Community to continue in volunteering and to be proud of how much volunteering contributes not only to the Gold Coast community, but in supporting community organisations and not for profits.
Richard Patterson, CEO of Volunteering Services Australia, was overwhelmed with the positive energy in the room and how dedicated the volunteers are. “It is humbling to reward and recognise volunteers at this year’s International Volunteer Day Gala Awards. With the highest amount of nominations to date, it highlights how important volunteering is and how far it has come, and how community and collaboration can be a major force.” Richard said.
The winners received some incredible prizes including 7 day holidays to anywhere in Australia or New Zealand, thanks to Classic Holidays and radio advertising campaigns on both Sea FM and Gold FM, thanks to Southern Cross Austereo.
