Volunteering Services Australia is proud to announce that The Honourable Dame Quentin Bryce, former Governor General of Australia and former Governor of Queensland has accepted the role of first Patron for the organisation.
Volunteering Services Australia C.E.O. Richard Patterson said, “We are honoured to have former Governor-General, Dame Quentin Bryce, as our first Patron and cannot wait to see the possibilities this patronage will hold”.
In her role as Patron she will support Volunteering Services Australia’s vital role in strengthening the community through the support and promotion of sustainable and equitable volunteering.
Dame Quentin has had a notable career as an academic, lawyer, community and human rights advocate, senior public officer, university college principal and vice-regal representative in Queensland and Australia.
In 2008, she was sworn in as Australia’s twenty-fifth Governor-General. She was the first woman to take up this role.
Volunteering Services Australia, founded in 1997, has grown to become the Gold Coast’s peak body for volunteering and provides a wide range of services to over 300 member organisations.
